Who is responsible
Summitmaplehorizn Tasting Ltd is responsible for personal information processed for this website and editorial correspondence. Our registered office is 28 Market Street, York, YO1 8SJ, United Kingdom; company no. 15092764. Contact [email protected] for privacy questions or rights requests.
Information involved
When you email us, we receive your email address, the name you provide, your message and any attachments you choose to send. Please share only information relevant to your enquiry, and avoid sensitive personal information.
Website delivery may involve technical information such as an IP address, requested URL, browser information, timestamps and error records in hosting or security logs. Such information is used to deliver pages, troubleshoot problems and protect the service. The published pages do not include advertising tags, third-party analytics or external embedded media.
The contact draft tool
Typing into the contact tool does not submit information to us. Draft creation happens in the current page. The tool does not put your message into localStorage or transmit it through a form endpoint. Copying puts the draft on your device’s clipboard, and downloading creates a text file on your device. Those copies remain under your control.
If you subsequently email the draft, your chosen email provider and our email service process the message as ordinary email. Closing or reloading the page may remove the page’s draft; your browser may independently offer form restoration or autofill.
Purposes and lawful bases
We use correspondence to respond to enquiries, investigate corrections and maintain relevant editorial records. We generally rely on legitimate interests in communicating with readers and operating a reliable publication, balanced against your rights. Security and technical processing support our legitimate interests in running and protecting the website. Where processing is necessary to meet a legal obligation, that obligation is the applicable basis. Optional storage or tracking, if introduced, requires an appropriate basis and consent where required.
Service providers and disclosure
Hosting and email providers may process information on our behalf as needed to provide their services. Information may also be disclosed where legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. We do not sell reader correspondence. Where a provider processes personal information outside the United Kingdom, applicable transfer requirements and safeguards must be met.
Retention and security
We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for the enquiry, editorial record or applicable legal obligations. Relevant correction records may need to remain useful after a conversation ends. Technical records should be kept only for the period needed for delivery, security or troubleshooting. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure; avoid emailing information that is not needed.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law and its conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If consent is used, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity before acting on a request.
You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. Contacting us first can help us understand and address your concern, but does not limit your right to contact the regulator.
